The world of flooring is constantly evolving, we have been able to navigate the industry and grow to the global company we are today through the collective passion and expertise of every single person who has worked at Amtico.
1964
Amtico International begins as a joint venture between Courtaulds and American Biltrite. A young chemist, John Harris joins the business as its first CEO.
1969
Courtaulds acquires the whole UK business, and is granted licence to use the Amtico brand in every country outside North America.
1991
Amtico opens its first office outside the UK in Neuss, Germany.
1993
Amtico opens its first US manufacturing facility in Tucker, Georgia.
1994
The Coventry factory expands further to include a third line for the new PVC-Free product, Stratica.
1996
CEO John Harris leads a Management Buy Out from Courtalds, bringing the business into private ownership.
1998
Amtico opens a new factory in Madison, USA.
2000
Amtico opens a new, dedicated Residential sales office, sample warehouse and training facility in Solihull, West Midlands.
2003
John Harris retires and is succeeded by Jonathan Duck. He’s the second CEO in the company’s history and is still at the helm of our global business today.
2004
Spacia, a new product collection, is launched initially in Australia, then into Europe and US.
2006
Amtico successfully completes a second Management Buy Out.
2007
New point of sale displays are introduced to over a thousand UK residential retailers, to showcase both Signature and Spacia collections.
Amtico’s first loose-lay flooring collection, Spacia Access is launched, offering adhesive-free installation for commercial environments.
2011
Amtico’s manufacturing innovation continues with the launch of Spacia First, an accessible range for light traffic areas.
2012
Spacia Click is launched, an easy and quick to fit product designed for both commercial and residential markets.
Amtico International is acquired by the third-generation US independent flooring manufacturer Mannington Mills.
2013
Amtico’s flagship collection, Signature is relaunched. This collection of 188 products pushes the boundaries through inspirational, cutting edge design.
2014
Uniquely Amtico, a new lifestyle identity is launched in the UK to communicate to residential customers.
Amtico International celebrates 50 years of flooring innovation.
2016
A comprehensive new commercial brand is launched, together with a sophisticated contemporary look for Amtico Signature.
‘Amtico makes it possible’ becomes our new proposition to our customers across the globe, signaling our confidence in the collaborative creativity, product innovation and service that sets our floors apart.
Designers’ Choice is launched alongside Signature, the first time customers can choose from 15 predefined laying patterns created by our in-house design studio.
2017
Amtico introduce two new collections: Amtico Cirro, PVC-free planks and tiles and Amtico Carpet tiles, both for commercial customers.
2018
Amtico opens a new Training Academy and dedicated Distribution Centre at Pilot Park Coventry.
This is Amtico's most environmentally advanced facility, achieving a BREEAM 'very good' rating.
2019
Amtico opens a new London Studio and an Australian office near Brisbane.
2021
Responsible Foundations, our new sustainability strategy, is launched to our customers globally. An internal version of our sustainability strategy, called Impact, is launched to our people in parallel.
2022
Our core LVT collections can now be specified with bio-attributed PVC, an option called Amtico Bio.
Amtico and National Trust collaborate to create the first Amtico Décor x National Trust collection, inspired by the historical interiors of National Trust properties. This collection is the first of a four-year partnership.
2023
The UK residential team relaunch their flooring offer with a new, elevated look and feel - moving away from the Uniquely Amtico proposition.
2024
Amtico Germany relocates to new offices in the heart of Dusseldorf's Design district.
The European warehouse also moves from Bremen to Dusseldorf as part of the relocation.
Amtico celebrates 60 years of British flooring expertise.
